What Is IPTV? A Guide for UK Viewers
IPTV means television delivered using internet protocol. For a viewer, the useful questions are what a particular service includes, which devices it supports and how well it works on the connection at home. The technology itself does not tell you which programmes are included or who has permission to distribute them.
This IPTVORE guide explains the basics for viewers in the UK and Ireland. If you already have access details, go to our setup help instead.
Live TV, on-demand viewing and catch-up
Live TV follows a schedule. On-demand viewing lets you select an available programme to play when you choose. Catch-up, where offered, makes an earlier broadcast available for a limited period. These are separate features: the presence of a channel in a guide does not establish that a recording or catch-up version is available.
Before choosing a plan, ask about the programmes you actually want and whether they are available in your country. UK and Irish catalogues or access conditions can differ. A large advertised catalogue is less useful than clear answers about your own viewing needs.
The service and the player are different
A player is software used to open supported streams or account details. A subscription supplies whatever access the provider has agreed to include. Installing a player does not necessarily provide channels, and paying for an app does not necessarily pay for the service. Confirm whether any separate player fee applies.
What to check at home
- Your exact television, streaming device or phone model, including its software version.
- The player and login format supported by the provider.
- The number of simultaneous streams allowed on the plan.
- Playback over the broadband connection and Wi-Fi location you normally use.
- The total price, billing currency, duration and renewal conditions.
Start with a practical check
Use a trial, where available, to test setup and everyday playback. Try at the time you normally watch rather than relying on a brief demonstration. Note any error messages and ask support before paying if an important requirement remains unclear.
For IPTVORE, review the current trial offer and subscription page. Availability, payment terms and device support should be checked against those pages and your order details.
